The Maxima is arguably one of the most well known models from Nissan. Recently the 8th generation of this iconic 4-Door Sports Car was revealed, creating quite the buzz amongst the gear heads. Nissan has taken notice and has released the top 8 things you should know about the 2016 Maxima. Here we have the first four for you.
.Angelic Inspiration: For inspiration while creating the all-new model, Nissan designers visited the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels®*. This is most noticeable in the wrap-around design of the cockpit internally and the lowered, sculpted and streamline exterior. Lastly, a special metal stamping technique was developed, adding the gestures to its bodyline and deeply scalloped doors.
.By The Numbers: The 2016 Maxima is simply longer, leaner, lower and tighter than previous editions. Enhancements include 2.2 inches in length, 1.3 inches lower, 82 pounds lighter and 25 percent more torsional rigidity.
.HP/MPG: Nissan decided that the 8th generation needed to more powerful and go further. The horsepower has been increased by 10, to 300 hp. Under the hood, there is 61% new engine parts and the MPG is anticipated to reach 30 mpg** .
.Sounds Like Max Spirit: One of the many goals of this model was to create a quiet and comfortable interior. Nissan engineers wanted a Maxima driver to be able to drive alone on a quiet road and hear nothing. To meet that goal, laminated glass was added to the windshield and front door windows and an Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system was put in to remove low-frequency sounds. To enhance the existing engine sound, a state-of-the-art Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) system was added.
