Nissan LEAF is World’s Best-Selling Plug-In Model

The Nissan LEAF is an incredibly efficient and award-winning model that has gained an incredible amount recognition and popularity amongst Nissan fans, auto enthusiasts and eco-friendly fans alike. In fact, since its initial launch nearly five years ago, its sales have skyrocketed making it the world’s best-selling plug-in model.

According to data collected by EV Sales, worldwide sales of the Nissan LEAF have reached nearly 172,000 units, which is higher than combined worldwide sales of the next two best-selling plug-in models. In just the U.S. alone, LEAF sales have already reached more than 75,000 units.

While sales of this unit are proving to be impressive, Nissan is constantly working to expand the world of electric and plug-in models in order to make them more accessible to customers everywhere. Earlier this month at the New York Auto Show, Nissan, company chief Carlos Ghosn stated that the company believes that they could increase U.S. sales of the Nissan LEAF to as much as 50,000 units per month with an improved charging infrastructure set up throughout the country.
