“Our system will be provided to end users completely ready to use, with all required elements including cabling and installation by a certified professional, at a starting price of 4,000 euros for 4.2 kilowatt-hours (kWh) nominal,” Eaton Electrical EMEA’s Vice President of Marketing Cyrille Brisson said.

Brisson is referring to the newly unveiled Nissan and Eaton Electric joint project, xStorage, a home battery system. Made from recycled LEAF® car batteries, xStorage is only available in the UK right now but developers hope to make it available in the US eventually. The battery draws power from the grid during non-peak times and from renewable sources like solar panels and will even allow you to sell energy back to the grid if you have a surplus.

This innovative milestone is a great step forward for both Nissan and energy storage and foreshadows exciting things to come!
