The 2016 Nissan Altima has been presented with a Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). With this new rating from the IIHS, the Nissan brand can now officially say that all three of their top-selling vehicles in North America have earned this highest-possible safety distinction.

“Nissan is very proud to have our best-selling vehicle recognized by IIHS for excellence in vehicle safety,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Strategy and Planning, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). “Like the new Maxima and Murano, Altima sets high standards in a very competitive class for styling, performance and value as well as safety. We at Nissan are gratified to see that another of our core models has been recognized for excellent design and vehicle safety.”

The 2016 Altima achieved a “Good” rating in each of the five IIHS crash tests, and a “Superior” rating for its available Forward Emergency Braking system. This model offers a number of standard safety features as well as a long list of optional safety features as well. Some of these optional features include Predictive Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent Cruise Control.
