2016 Maxima – Facts To Know
With the coming release of the 8th Generation Nissan Maxima when the 2016 model makes its official debut, Nissan is taking a look over the impressive history of one of their most popular models. The very first model in the line was the Datsun 810 Maxima, which was released in 1981. In the more than thirty years since the introduction of this first model, the line has grown an impressive fan following. Now, in preparation for the 2016 model’s arrival, the brand has released a list of the top eight facts to know about this all-new model. We brought you the first four facts in our previous blog, listed below are the remaining four.
2016 Nissan Maxima Facts:
5. Textural Messaging – The interior of the all-new Maxima was designed with advanced touchpoints and features such as the D-shaped steering wheel, diamond-quilted seat inserts and genuine stitching on the doors, console and instrument panel. All of these new features have been added in order to heighten the senses and make the driver feel more connected to the vehicle.
6. How About A Coffee – The Platinum trim of the 2016 Maxima offers the brand’s new Driver Attention Alert (DAA) system* which tracks driver behavior to look for signs of drowsy driving. When the system detects a change in driving pattern indicating drowsiness, the system flashes a warning sign with an amber coffee cup symbol and the words “Need A break?” to bring the driver’s attention to the situation.
7. Who’s the Emboss – This model has embossed “4DSC” logos on the side taillight reflectors and headlights.
8. Max plant – The Nissan Smyrna, Tennessee plant is where the 2016 Maxima is manufactured Throughout 2014, this plant produced 648.000 vehciles, which is more than any other North American automotive plant.
*It is the driver’s responsibility to remain alert at all times. DAA is only a warning to inform the driver of a potential lack of driver attention or drowsiness. It does not detect and provide an alert in every situation. See Owner’s Manual for details.
The 8th Generation Maxima has a lot to Offer
The Maxima is arguably one of the most well known models from Nissan. Recently the 8th generation of this iconic 4-Door Sports Car was revealed, creating quite the buzz amongst the gear heads. Nissan has taken notice and has released the top 8 things you should know about the 2016 Maxima. Here we have the first four for you.
1.Angelic Inspiration: For inspiration while creating the all-new model, Nissan designers visited the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels®*. This is most noticeable in the wrap-around design of the cockpit internally and the lowered, sculpted and streamline exterior. Lastly, a special metal stamping technique was developed, adding the gestures to its bodyline and deeply scalloped doors.
2.By The Numbers: The 2016 Maxima is simply longer, leaner, lower and tighter than previous editions. Enhancements include 2.2 inches in length, 1.3 inches lower, 82 pounds lighter and 25 percent more torsional rigidity.
3.HP/MPG: Nissan decided that the 8th generation needed to more powerful and go further. The horsepower has been increased by 10, to 300 hp. Under the hood, there is 61% new engine parts and the MPG is anticipated to reach 30 mpg** .
4.Sounds Like Max Spirit: One of the many goals of this model was to create a quiet and comfortable interior. Nissan engineers wanted a Maxima driver to be able to drive alone on a quiet road and hear nothing. To meet that goal, laminated glass was added to the windshield and front door windows and an Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) system was put in to remove low-frequency sounds. To enhance the existing engine sound, a state-of-the-art Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) system was added.

Recently, Nissan turned heads by creating the first glow-in-the-dark vehicle. An innovative finish was applied to the LEAF that allows it to absorb UV energy and other visible radiation throughout the day, causing it to glow for eight to 10 hours.
But making a vehicle glow isn’t enough for Nissan. They wanted to accomplish more, something bigger, like Guinness World Record bigger, and that’s just what they did. Using 60 liters of luminous acrylics paint, a giant PVC-coated canvas and the wheels of the LEAF as paint brushes, artists Ian Cook, of Popbangcolour, was able to set the Guinness World Record for the Largest Glow-in-the-Dark painting.
The LEAF self-portrait took over 61 hours to complete and was overseen by an official Guinness World Records adjudicator Fortuna Burke and awarded the Guinness World Records title on March 20, 2015.

TITAN Truckumentary Chapter 5
The newest released segment in the Nissan Titan Truckumentary series has been released by the automaker, taking the behind-the-scenes journey of the development of this all-new model to a whole new level. This latest segment is “Chapter 5: Heart of Cold” builds upon some of the climate durability testing seen in the previous chapter. Here we see as Ford engineers take the TITAN out to these extreme climate conditions to test them out in real world situations in some of the harshest climates.
In conducting these tests, the engineers took the pickup out on some of the local roads in cold climates such as Durango, Colorado, Fairbanks, Alaska and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. This allows engineers to see how much snow and dirt accumulated when driving in winter conditions, a test that cannot be replicated in an artificial testing area. Additionally, the team also performed a series of ‘cold test” in which they would start the TITAN at low temperatures and then measure how long it took for the occupants to feel warm.
Go Behind the Scenes of Nissan’s “With Dad” Spot
When Nissan debuted their “With Dad” commercial at the 2015 Super Bowl Commercial, they truly hit a home run with their emotional spot that also marked the first time Nissan had advertised during the big game in nineteen years. The now infamous spot was 90 seconds long and followed the story of a family where the father/husband is a Nissan racecar driver. Due to his job he is forced to spend a good amount of time away from his family, which is a struggle that we watch this family of three deal with as their son grows into a teenager.
This all-new spot really hit home with families, which led to it earning the title of Favorite Super Bowl Commercial of 2015 in the YouTube AdBlitz™ awards. Overall, the fan votes for this spot was 60% higher than the winning advertisement from last year’s awards.
Now, Nissan has released a behind the scenes look at the making of this commercial, talking about the inspiration behind the story. Check out the videos below to see that behind the scenes look at the making of this award-winning commercial.
Behind The Scenes:
Titan Truckumentary Chapter 4

This portion of the series focused on the series of durability tests that the vehicle was put through in order to test out just how tough this model can be. Several different Nissan engineers discussed the various types of tests that were performed on the vehicle and why each test was important to evaluating the overall durability of this vehicle and the overall effect that wear and tear will have on the Titan over time.
Check out the video above to see all of the different types of tests that the all-new Titan endured in order to ensure that it was built “Titan Tough”.
