The 2017 model of the Nissan Pathfinder marks the model’s 30th year in production. And just like any milestone birthday we wanted to take a look back at its history to see how it has grown and evolved throughout the years First Generation (1987 to 1995) - The Pathfinder was a two-door trend-setter from Nissan that no one saw coming. Styled after the Hardbody pickup, the Pathfinder appealed to off-roaders thanks to its rugged body-on-frame platform. In 1990, two rear doors were added. Second Generation (1996 to 2004) - The style of the Pathfinder became more aerodynamic and different than the look of the pickup it was originally styled after. More “family-friendly” features were added in 2001 and sales began to increase steadily. Third Generation (2005 to 2012) - A third row solidified the Pathfinder’s standing as a popular family SUV. This made the vehicle more versatile by allowing for more cargo space or seating for seven depending on your needs. Fourth Generation (2013 to 2016) - Efficiency was the name of the game starting in 2013. A fuel-efficient engine, LATCH AND GLIDE™ technology, and EZ Flex™ Seating System addressed buyers’ desires for simplicity in several ways.
