While we are lucky enough to live in an area that is not impacted by hurricanes, many people in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia are still dealing with the devastating impact of Hurricane Matthew. Although they are lucky to have survived, many individuals and business owners have suffered damaged vehicles or a total loss because of the storm. Nissan is helping victims get their lives back to normal by offering employee-pricing on most Nissan vehicles. Victims in the affected areas can work with their local Nissan dealership now through the end of the month to take advantage of this opportunity, which includes additional incentives and even a deferred payment plan* for qualified customers. We are proud to work for such a generous and caring company! "Nissan North America Offers Employee Pricing to Replace Vehicles Damaged by Hurricane Matthew." Nissan Online Newsroom. N.p., n.d. Nissan Employees Join With Habitat For Humanity Again
"Nissan is a leader not only in the automotive industry but also in community citizenship," said Cindy Griffin, executive director of HFHMCA. "Nissan – Canton's sponsorship this year of a house on Greenview Drive is the latest in a long and generous history of their partnership with us. Nissan employees demonstrate the highest ideals of volunteerism, putting their hearts into action as they work alongside partner families, helping them build their new homes. We are proud to be their partner." The relationship between Nissan and Habitat for Humanity continues to be a strong one. This year Nissan employees don their hard hats and pick up hammers to assist in the building of a future home on Greenview Drive in Jackson, Mississippi. The project started last month and will continue well into May until the house is completed. Not only does Nissan provide manpower, it also contributes financially. Since 2006, Nissan has donated $1 million and 50 Nissan trucks. These efforts have produced more than 60 homes in the Gulf Coast region and all over the US. Nissan Partners Up To Help The Wounded Warriors Project
On June 22nd, Nissan made the announcement that it would be the official automotive sponsor for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP), adding to an already sound relationship between the two groups. Throughout the U.S., Nissan dealers can help do their part by raising money for wounded veterans and bringing to light the issues that they often face when coming back home. The Nissan Dealer that raises the most money will be invited to the organizations’ yearly Courage Awards & Benefit Dinner® in New York City. "Nissan and Nissan dealers are proud to be helping support our nation's heroes by raising awareness and support through local promotions and events, as well as continuing our efforts at the national level," said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Sales, Marketing & Operations, U.S.A., Nissan North America, Inc. "It's Nissan's way of honoring the service to those who sacrifice so much for all of us, including their devoted family members." The recent “Project Titan” trip was another way Nissan showed its support of WWP. In the trip, two injured veterans navigated a custom Nissan Titan pickup for 10 days across the Alaskan Wilderness. Last Veteran’s Day a short film showed on select channels showing their journey. Earlier this year in January, Nissan donated $1 million in a joint effort with their “With Dad” Super Bowl commercial, to help families ensure a better future.
Heisman Winners Discuss Creating Awareness About Affordable Housing
We recently shared a blog with you that discussed Nissan’s efforts with Habitat for Humanity and how the automaker recently participated in an event in Los Angeles along with the Heisman Trophy Trust in order to build a new house for a local family of five. The previous blog discussed how the three organizations helped to facilitate e a weekend-long event to not only build a home for this family, but to help and raise awareness about the need for affordable housing all throughout the U.S. Here we are offering you a behind-the-scenes account from a few of the participants that took part in the build that day. The video shows Heisman winners and Nissan executives discussing why the are passionate about this cause and helping to build a home for this family. "It's great to get out of the office and spend some time in the community working with our dealers, working with the Heisman Trust, working with our people, working with a family who really deserves to have a home. And it makes it all worth it when you see Nissan make this kind of impact on a community and do that in a way that is just genuine. The smiles on people's faces here, the hard work, the sweat – all that comes together, and we know that we are making an impact in the community. That's a great place for us to be and a great feeling to have as a leader within the company." Watch the video above to hear some of the personal opinions of a few of the participants.

Nissan LEAF® Helps to Create “Reverse Graffiti” Mural
Reverse Graffiti Artist Moose recently created a large-scale mural in the subway on Station's Approach, Waterloo in London, England. This mural was commissioned by Nissan as a creative way to highlight the ongoing air pollution problem in the city of London cause mainly by vehicle emissions. This projects was done as part of Nissan’s campaign to get more people interested in zero-emissions vehicles such as the Nissan LEAF in order to reduce this ongoing pollution issue. As a Reverse Graffiti artist, Moose creates his artwork through the unique process of removing dirt and grime from a wall through the use of a power washer or wire brush and leaving a negative image in its place. For the mural in London, Moose used a power washer that was powered by energy from the battery of a Nissan LEAF. The images created by Moose depicted several historical London landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Battersea Power Station, The Shard and The London Eye. "I've been using reverse graffiti for fifteen years now – in fact I named it," said explained Moose, who originates from Leeds. "My whole ethos is about highlighting the amount of pollution we endure daily using a very positive harmless method that never fails to ask questions about what we accept and what we shouldn't accept in our environment. For these reasons I was keen to be involved in this project. Electric cars and alternative fuelling systems provide the brightest future we've ever known in the history of the automotive industry in terms of protecting our environment. It's a pleasure to be given the opportunity to create public art in this way, and I'm very pleased with the iconic simplicity of the mural and its message." Project Titan Vehicle Completed by Nissan
After several months of development, Nissan has finally completed its Project Titan vehicle. This project was first initiated at the beginning of the year when Nissan announced its plans to create a custom Titan to take two Wounded Warrior veterans on the ultimate off-road adventure. Through the use of social media, the public was able to participate in the development of the model and offer suggestions on the types of advanced features the model should be equipped with. The Titan was created from a 2014 Titan Crew Cab PRO-4X® with custom features such as 18-inch Fuel Revolver D525 Wheels wrapped in 35-inch Nitto Trail Grappler M/T tires, a Digital-Camouflage Design, a ARB Deluxe Bull Bar and Bulldog LED Lighting. With this vehicle completed, the ultimate adventure through Alaska will soon take place and the public will be able to enjoy the adventure with them through a YouTube series documenting it. "The robust Titan serves as a great starting point for an adventure of this magnitude. With the help of Nissan's Facebook fan base, Project Titan is fully equipped for the Alaskan Frontier," said Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Nissan Sales & Marketing and Operations U.S. "I'm very much looking forward to following the Wounded Warrior Project team as they make their way through Alaska behind the wheel of Project Titan. This is the trip of a lifetime, and these veterans have all the essentials in this custom Nissan Titan to tackle many of the challenges the great wilderness will send their way throughout the journey."
